Join us to learn some handy ways you can help reduce textile waste and give longer life to your favourite garments!
17 September 10.30am - 12pm, Members Lounge The Power of Pollinators We all know about bees, those miniature powerhouses of pollination, but did you know that Australia’s forests and food systems also rely on bats and birds? Come and talk about pollinators as engines of our carbon and climate systems and how we can support them in our local environments.
20 September - 2.00pm - 3.30pm, Theatre How can I take action? (family-friendly) Many of us want to take action to reduce climate change, but it can be hard choosing the most effective ways forward. Come along for evidence-based suggestions and a chance to discuss ideas with others, across generations. This is a family-friendly session.
15 October - 10.30am - 12pm, Members Lounge Clean Transport - (National Ride2Work Day) Learn about the many ways we can journey without harming the planet! In honour of National Ride 2 Work Day, the CSC will discuss the benefits of electric vehicles and other forms of transport, as well as the benefits of walking and cycling! Come along to learn and share ideas for travelling with care for our country in mind.
19 November - 10.30am - 12pm, Members Lounge How to Talk Climate Simple ways to speak about climate change—personal stories, positive news, and nature-first framing.
17 December - 10.30am - 12pm, Members Lounge Sustainable Holidays The festive season is often everyone’s favourite time of year, but it also has the potential to cause a lot of waste. Come along to learn handy and creative tips to lower your Christmas carbon footprint, and share ideas from low-emissions travel, conscious gift-giving, and sustainable wrapping.

Australian science is leading the world in climate solutions, from researching seaweed for reducing the methane cows produce to rapidly increasing the efficiency of solar panels.

Jenny Newell (Curator, Climate Change Projects at the Australian Museum) works on the cultural dimensions of climate change, focusing on communities in Australia and the Pacific. She aims to increase engagement in environmental stewardship through the medium of museums.

With a background in environmental history, Jenny has worked with Pacific communities and collections at the British Museum, National Museum of Australia, the American Museum of Natural History (New York) and the Australian Museum to amplify voices on climate change for broad audiences.
